Match Report | Minehead: 8 Swindon A: 0 A clinical 2nd half display saw Minehead strengthen their grip at the top of the league with an 8-0 home victory over Swindon A. Minehead exerted their dominance from the start against a Swindon side who were happy to sit back and defend. With the majority of the play in the oppositions half the home side initially struggled to breakdown a stubborn Swindon defence and only opened the scoring midway through the half, Archie Marsh slotting home. Nick Bennett doubled the lead shortly after following a swift counter attack, assist coming from the sprightly James Weetch. The half finished 2-0, not really a true reflection of the home team’s dominance, goalkeeper Freddie Wilson being reduced to a spectator’s role. The 2nd half continued in the same vein, albeit the Home team finally started finding the net as a tiring Swindon started to fade. Nick Bennett scored his 2nd of the game to put his side 3-0 up before a flurry of goals from Rob Speed, Alex Covey and Archie Marsh took Minehead’s tally to 6. Nick Hill weighed in from a short corner to make it 7 before Bennett put the cherry on top of the cake, completing his hat-trick with a tap-in at the far post. Minehead travel to Swindon this coming weekend to take on North Wiltshire in their final game before the winter break.
