Minehead A: 4

East Devon A: 8

The Seasiders started the second half of the season with a tough game at home to top of the table side East Devon A. Large portions of the early exchanges were in the home team’s half, however they caught East Devon cold on the break and a well worked move between Paul Stevens, John Clegg and Daz Meecham resulted in Stevens slotting the ball into an open net.

The home team then fell lax with their marking and a few internal disputes allowed the floodgates to be opened. East Devon pressed the advantage and some good finishing took then into halftime at 5-1.

After a stern talking to at halftime and some rearranging of the team, Minehead looked to make some inroads into the deficit. Minehead got the rub of the green on a touch and go decision which ended with Alex Covey slapping the ball across to Meecham who calmly lobbed the keeper to start the comeback. When Meecham chipped the ball over the keeper again, Minehead were in the ascendancy and back in the game at 5-3.

East Devon then broke away to score, which should have been the end of it but the Seasiders had other ideas. The influential Dom Bowden started an intricate passing move with Stevens before finally reaching Clegg at the back post who provided a smart finish. 6-4. Pressure continued to come from the home team, but this time it was East Devon’s turn to breakaway and two quick fire goals put the game to bed.
