Match Report | The weather may have been mild, but temperatures threatened to boil over in a hotly-contested game where the away side ran out 2-1 winners. After a tight first half in which Minehead had the slight edge - and Chard the higher penalty count - the away side struck first in the second period. Despite the valiant efforts of Minehead goalkeeper, Ryan Jones, who made a string of superb saves, Chard made it 2-0 as the Minehead defence began to look a bit tired against some pacey, young Chard strikers who played with great spirit all game. The penalty count continued to rise and calm heads were needed as the umpires dealt with an unhealthy amount of dissent. Minehead got back in the game thanks to some good build up play and a sharp finish from Tom Panton. However they were not able to force an equaliser and the final whistle gave Chard the victory, but also, perhaps, the chance for some to reflect on their conduct on the hockey pitch. |
