Match Report

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Minehead were short of players for their visit to Sidmouth & Ottery B only managing to turn up with 10 men. Spirits were high none the less and the team played with ambition and energy.

Unfortunately a strong Sidmouth side made the most of the extra man and moved the ball well around the park, despite some decent defending and quality goalkeeping from Mark Swallow, the team were unable to keep Sidmouth at bay. By half time Sidmouth had managed to slot 4 goals past Minehead.

Early in the 2nd half after a bit of regrouping, Nick Bennett broke into the D beating a couple of Sidmouth players and releasing a shot only to be denied by the goalies boot, the save was sent high into Nick’s midriff and when it landed Dylan Howell stepped forward to pick up the pieces and finish to make the score 4-1.

Unfortunately for Minehead the thoughts of a recovery were short-lived, as Sidmouth reacted to the goal and managed to slot a few more goals past a tiring Minehead side. A great effort all around from the depleted Minehead side with particular mention to Ben Moody and Steve Thompson who put in a couple of great shifts.

Sidmouth remained top of the table following this decisive display, whilst Minehead are still seeking their first points of the season. Keep up the positive attitude and it won’t be long before these arrive.
