Match Report | South East 2 Minehead B: 4 Sidmouth & Ottery B: 3 Minehead hosted Sidmouth and Ottery B, and earned their first win of 2020 with a good combination of wise older heads and youthful enthusiasm, Minehead set about playing as we have all season with good movement off the ball. Working hard against a solid Sidmouth & Ottery side, all be it slightly short on numbers, chances came at both ends before Sidmouth finally found the back of the net. Minehead quickly levelled the game with some great passing through the field allowing Captain Ryan Dean to put the ball through to Paul Jones in space to go on and score, a second goal for Minehead came from more well worked passing this time setting up Kieran Jones for his first goal this season. Sidmouth kept pressing and got there second thanks to a short corner taking a deflection off Paul Jones's stick in his attempt to save it, so at the half way point the game was all level and although Dylan Howell had a great first half in goal he wanted a run around in the second half, so after a quick change around Steve Cottrell was kitted up and the second half was underway. Dylan's decision was looking a concern when another Sidmouth goal was scored, Dylan then scored a goal to level things once again helped by a good play from young Jack Lancaster making his debut for the men’s team after coming through the ranks of Minehead’s youth set up helping Ryan Dean again assist in setting up the equaliser, a short corner for Minehead saw Ryan Dean flick and score to give them the lead and with some sensible play saw the game finish 4-3 to Minehead, man of the match was awarded to two of our youngsters today, Kieran Jones and Jack Lancaster, Man of the Match: Kieran Jones & Jack Lancaster Match Ball Sponsor: Surefyre Minehead: Ryan Dean, Ben Moody, Will Giles, Chris Briggs, Paul Jones, Kieran Jones, Jack Lancaster, Steve Cottrell, Stephen Thompson, Watson Byas, Dylan Howell, Will Lock |
