Match Report | Minehead started there league campaign with a dominant victory against a high quality opponent recently relegated from the league above. Minehead took a while to settle into there stride with both teams equally matched in the early stages, Freddie Wilson made a couple of good early saves and at the other end Minehead did all but put the ball into the net. This changed minutes before half time when Jake Lintott made a run down the left wing, beating a number of players to reach the base line, he played an audacious lob over the keeper, with Nick Bennett on Hand to tap in. Minehead felt they could have been further ahead but were happy to be 1 up against such opposition. The word at Half Time was to make better use of the ball and not give up position so easily. Minehead players duly obliged and immediately won a number of short corners. Minehead found the target through Nick Bennett who was again in the right place at the right time to tap home. Debutant Sam Jarvis was a handful all game at Right Wing and got himself on the scoresheet with a tidy finish to make it 3-0. Minehead never took there foot off the pedal and looked to score more goals, Bennett nearly completed his Hat Trick with a first time flick on from a 50 metre aerial, only for the ball to be cleared off the line. Nick Hill bagged a goal, as a well worked short corner routine saw the ball come to him 8 yards out and he supplied a strong finish to the bottom corner. With the match drawing to an end and Minehead a man down, Sam Jarvis completed the scoring for the day, turning and beating a number of players before slotting home. Minehead felt they could have scored more but were ultimately very pleased with the result, as always we celebrated in the right spirit enjoying a number of beverages on the long journey home. Man of the Match went to Jake Lintott for his work rate and for setting up a number of goal scoring chances. |
